Hey all,
Sounds selfish huh?! Well, I was just thinking yesterday that some of you may not know me very well, and some may not know me as well as you think!!!!! I just thought I do a fun one and let you know some things about me. It's kind of like those "Get-to-know-you" emails that circulate at the beginning of the year sometimes, but this is just a little more personalized!!!! Here goes, ready or not!!!!
Favorites:
Food -- Carne guisada (Bro. Juan's recipe)
Restaurant -- Taco Fiesta HANDS DOWN!!!!
Book -- I don't really know, but I just finished End of the Spear by Steve Saint, and boy was it a good one!!! It is definitly a recommended read!!!!! One of my favorite authors would probably be Dee Henderson.
Sayings -- One of the things I say A LOT is "wait and see". There are so many uncertainties in life that we just have to wait and see how it all pans out. This could be scary, but if your life is in God's hands, there is not a thing to worry about!!! He's plan is perfect, and we will see in the end just how perfect, if we just trust Him and follow Him and keep our hands off!!!! A saying that has been fresh on my mind recently, although maybe not an absolute favorite (but a good one nontheless) goes something like this "Only one life twill soon be past. Only whats done for Christ will last." Very important to remember that as we go about our everyday lives.
Pastime: Probably reading or blogging. Don't always have much time for it though.
Person: My husband. No doubt about that!!!! My Mommy comes a close second though!! With good friends right behind her.
Passions/Hobbies: Passions first (things that I REALLY enjoy) -- Music, baking, reading, spending time with my husband (which I SHOULD have listed first!!!) blogging, having company, working with children, visiting with friends. Now for the hobbies (things I enjoy on a sporatic basis) -- Sewing, crosstitch, scrapbooking, working in the flower beds. I haven't tried quilting yet, but I have a couple of quilts started, and I have a frame, so one of these days......
Little known facts (at least for some) -- 1) Thunder storms make me nervous!!! I know they normally aren't dangerous, but still, I don't like the noise!!! Same with the big LOUD fireworks!!! 2) I've always wanted to be a Mommy and a Teacher from the time I was little. Maybe it will all happen someday, should Jesus tarry long enough!!! 3) I don't like snakes, not even in pictures to be honest!!!! 4) I wouldn't mind having a part time job, but I SOOOOO enjoy being wife to Ron and keeping his home in shape. 5) I dread putting the dishes away after I've washed them. If I don't wash, it doesn't bother me, but otherwise, I dread it. I never complain much, because it's one of the things that need done, but I still don't like it. 6) I have a desire to play piano like Anthony Burger and Roger Bennet, and to play the violin like Jeremy, but don't have the discipline to take time to practice when I have the chance (so it's my fault, but thought I'd express it anyway.) 7) Characteristically I am I shy person. It's hard for me to initiate first contact, but once I get to know you... 8) I blush easily (Right Jeremy?), and hate that, but just take it in stride since I can't really help it!!!!
Frustrations in life (personal ones) -- 1) I wish I did a better job keeping in touch with my friends. 2) I wish I was a better witness for Christ, but I need to not let this one get me down because we never really know how much we are witnessing!!! Some plant, some water, and some reap, and we never know which we are doing!!!! 3) I wish the computer wouldn't kick me off-line in the middle of a very important posting!!!! (Blogger saved it as I went, so it was all here when I got back on to finish) 4) I wish I could speak and understand Spanish better. Will have to work on it!!!!
Abitions/Goals in life (personal ones) -- 1) To be the Godly, Biblical wife God intends for me to be. 2) To someday be a mother. 3) To win souls for Jesus. 4) To finish some projects I have started (crosstitch project going for a couple of years, scrapbooks going for a year or so, sewing projects I have started -- literally and in my head, ect.) 5) To discipline myself in my prayer life. 6) To discipline myself in my music practice. (I know I won't get better if I don't work at it.) 7) To walk as close to God as humanly possible. 8) To leave things I have placed in God's hands where they are and let Him to work as He sees fit. 9) To keep in better touch of my friends and family. 10) To one day become fluent in the beautiful Spanish language.
Fears: 1) That not all my family and loved ones will make it to Heaven. 2) That something will happen to Ron. 3) That my Daddy won't always be here for me. (I know God's in control!!!) 4) That I will fail someone sometime. (Which I will, but I don't like to.) 5) That I'll have to move again before I'm ready!!!! (please don't read anything into this. Right now, I don't think I will EVER be ready to move from here, but God is the author of our lives, and we will go wherever He leads, whenever He wills.) 6) That the world will come to an end in my life time. I'd rather die before that happens. 7) That I'll have to cut my hair sometime for whatever reason. 8) That my dog will get hit by a car.
FAQ's (and some not so frequent):
1) Is that your real hair color? Yes. My hair has never been altered in color. It's all natural!! I have used shampoo designed to enhance Red hair, but other than that, I have done nothing to it.
2) How long is your hair? My hair hangs to about mid-thigh at the longest part. I have never cut it in my whole life. Yes, I have split ends, but oh well.
3) How long have you been married? Ron and I have been married for 4 years. I would not trade him for anyone else in the world!!! God gave me a wonderful husband in Ron. Perfect? No, but who is? I love him dearly, and have learned to live with the "imperfections". Nothing is too bad that we can't work it out.
4) How many brother's and sisters do you have? I have 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Each of my sisters are/have been married and each have one child (2 are girls, and one boy). My youngest brother is in the talking stage of a relationship, and we are trusting God to work it all out according to His will.
5) What in the world are you doing in Donna, Texas? Ron and I both have received a call to minister in Mexico. We were sent to Donna, TX (on the Mexico border) to reopen a Spanish Church, with the future possibility of starting a work, or working with current missionaries, somewhere in Mexico. Only God knows how this will all pan out. We'll just have to wait and see!!!
Well folks, that about wraps up my thoughts for this blog. If I think of anything else I want to share, I'll do so in a future blog, if I don't forget.
Until next time,
Esther

I thought I knew you - but it was nice to 'get to know you' better!
