Hey all,
Just thought I'd let you all know that for the time being, the main force of Hurricane Ike is going to miss us. We are expecting a lot of rain and wind but unless it makes a shift south, we may not even get as much as they are predicting right now. There has been evacuations north of us, but I don't think we are in enough danger to need to evacuate. Which is a good thing because we're not sure where we'd go, and we know several people that really can't afford to evacuate (we really can't either) so that's a good thing. We really don't know what we will be getting from this storm, but God does, and He is in control of everything!!! We are trusting Him to get us through this storm just like He did with Dolly.
Another example of God's goodness: Ron missed a day of work this week because of sickness, but because of Ike, the dialysis centers are running tomorrows patients today just in case they have to close tomorrow and can't do the treatments. They didn't do this with Dolly and some patients had to go 3 or 4 days without treatment. So, Ron "got" to work today, the same schedule he missed on Mon., so the check will still be a normal sized check. It just goes to show that God cares, and He knows exactly what we need!!! It also shows that good can and almost always comes from a "bad" situation. Ron is wanting to get the yard mowed before we get the effects from Ike, even though it doesn't really need it right now. We've had some rain this week already and for the past couple weeks we've had heavy dew which feeds the grass. It also takes forever to dry enough to mow, so it's getting around noon (and quite warm!!) by the time it's dry enough to start, but since we don't know how much rain is coming and how soon the ground will be solid enough to run the lawn tractor (we have like 2 1/2 acres -- not fun to push mow all of it!!) Ron wants to get it cut so it won't be so tall and thick before we can get it done again. That's on the agenda for today if the weather continues to cooperate and Ron gets home from work soon enough. I plan on starting here in a little bit, but I'm expecting company so I don't know if I'll be able to get to it or not. Depends on how long my company is here. I do know that it's going to be hot!! and I don't use the tractor. We are out of gas for the mowers (Ron's getting it today on his way home from work) so I only have one tank in the push mower, which usually last about an hour and since the grass isn't all that tall and thick right now I should be able to get about 1/2 of the back yard done. Then when he gets home we'll finish. If he doesn't get off in enough time, we'll just have to pray that the rain holds off a few hours so we can get it done tomorrow late morning.
Well, I feel like I am in danger of rambling, so I'll sign off now. Just thought I'd give an update one what's going on here. Since I'm teaching again, my time is very limited and will be until next summer. Bear with me though!! Don't go away!! I'll still post every now and then, so keep checking back!! Your comments are welcome as well. I like to know whose still interested. Sorry about the lack of pictures, there just isn't much to take pictures of since I don't have children and I don't do the coupons/good deals posts, so there isn't much to take pictures of. Anyway, I'll shut up now before I completely bore you all to death. Hope everyone has a good weekend!! We'll do the best we can!!!! Y'all take care now.
Until next time,
Esther
