Free Water

Yesterday, we were in need of water. We had used up all that we had, and since the tap water here isn't good to drink, and we don't have a filter for it, we have to buy our water. There are several water stations throughout every city where people go to get water (it's only $.25/gal, or $1 for 5 gal.) We stopped at a Walmart to get water yesterday, and the guy was servicing the machine. Ron thought maybe we'd have to go elsewhere, but the guy said it still operated even though he was servicing it. So, Ron went to fill up our jugs (one 5 gal, and 1 gal pitcher). After he was finished and we were leaving Ron told me that the water for that time was free. The guy needed to set the computer to tell it when to stop the water flow, and he was going to have to run the water through in order to do that. Instead of it going to waste, he just ran it into our jugs. Since he had to run it anyway, we didn't have to pay for the water this time. It only saved us $1.25, but hey, it's that much more we have for something else!!!!!!

Now, you are perhaps wondering why I felt the need to tell you all this. There is a lesson here, and I am thankful that God showed it to me. Jesus gives the water of life freely, and it's free to all. The only thing we have to do is accept it. Ron would have been ungrateful for the offering of free water if he had said "No, go ahead and run it out. When you are done, then I will fill my jugs." The guy would not have understood at all why he would pass up free water. It's the same for sooooo many people. God has freely offered forgiveness of sins, and ultimately eternal life. It's free to all who will accept it. So many people say, "no thank you. I will just continue like I have been, and wait until later." I don't understand it. I don't understand how people who have walked with God, can turn away from Him and do their own thing again. I don't understand how people turn down "free water" all the time. Lets all do our best to help others find and accept this free water!!!!!

Until Next time,

Esther
