Hey all,
It's been another busy week!!!! We finished the church doors and had everything cleaned up and back to "normal" for services on Sunday. Everyone really likes the new doors!!! We are soooo glad!! Ron was wanting to redo the landscaping in front of the church as soon as the new doors were in because some of the plants were looking kind of scraggly. I don't know if they were really dying or since it's coming up on "winter" if they were going into "winter mode". Anyway, they were looking kind of bad, so we bought new plants to replace them. Ron worked 3 days this week, and our yard was getting really bad and needed mowed. Usually when Ron works and the yard needs mowed, I start in the back with the push mower while he is at work, and then when he gets home, we finish it up. It didn't work that way this week. I started mowing on Mon. and Ron got off earlier so that he could come home and we could finish, but on his way home, it started POURING down rain, so we were unable to finish. He felt really bad then because one of the other guys needed to go home earlier too, and he had to stay. Ron said if he'd known it was going to rain like that and he wouldn't be able to do what he had planned, he would have stayed and let the other guy go home since he had lots to do before going on a trip this weekend. Tues. Ron worked until almost dark, and I went to Bible Study, but I was able to finish the back. Wed. was full too, with grocery shopping and other things, so only got a little more mowed (when the grass is as thick and high as it was, it takes a good 4-5 hours to mow the whole yard, even with a lawn tractor!!!) but couldn't finish because we had to stop for church. FINALLY, yesterday we finished it all, but by that time what I had mowed on Mon and Tues. needed it again, so Ron buzzed over it with the tractor, (took him about 30 min or so.) Yesterday we also planted the new plants in front of the church and replaced all the mulch. Most of the new plants went in one side, so it looks a little "off balance" right now!!! We are hoping that they all grow good so that before long it will balance out again. One of these days I will get pictures on here of all that I've been talking about!! I was excited to have a digital camera so that I could do more pics, and here I haven't even tried to use it lately!! My apologies!!! I will try to do better!!!
Next week looks to be a little slower, maybe, but after that, I don't know!!! Our neighbors own a small farm, and for the last 2 years they have made a corn maze open to the public. It started out as a supplement to the farm income, but has turned out to be so popular that they don't farm much anymore and can live off the maze income, and live well!!! Last year, Ron and I both worked for them at the corn maze, and they want us back this year!! I am really excited about working for them again!!! Since Ron is working a job this year, and also needs to take the National Registry EMT test to get a permanent TX EMT license, he doesn't think he will be able to work much. I have also proposed to make homemade cookies for them to sell in their concession stand, but won't know until tomorrow (or later) if they will do that or not. It sounds promising though!!! That will give me a little more work to do to keep me from being bored, and also a little more cash for whatever. I really hope they do agree because I have a very important project that I want the $ for, and there really is no other way to get as much as I want for this project. Sorry to pique anyone's curiosity, but since my hubby's b-day and Christmas are coming, and there's a chance he will read this or someone who does read it will say something to him, it has to remain a secret!!!! Once it doesn't need to be secret anymore, I will probably tell.
Well, I am in danger of rambling, so I must sign off for now. Two of our church families are in Mexico this weekend, so we will have a really small group on Sunday!! We pray they have a good and safe time, and get home safely. Hope EVERYONE has a GREAT weekend!!! May God bless you all!!!
Until next time,
Esther
P.S. I have decided to go ahead and post the SS Charlie story. Since I waited so long to decide, the first post will have the first two parts. I hope you all enjoy it as much as the last one!!!
