Hey all,
Our last couple of weeks have been fairly busy. We've been working on the new church doors, and about have them completed. Got into a whole lot more work and time than we anticipated because whoever built the building, filled in the hollow part of the blocks with concrete. It was a pain trying to cut through!!! We had to cut the opening a little bigger because the new doors were a couple of inches or so bigger than the old ones. We don't have it completely done yet, but they are in, and secured. We still have a huge mess to clean up though!! Those concrete saws sure do make the dust fly!!!
Yesterday when I went out to water my chickens, I found them all scattered around the pen, dead as doornails. One was actually missing. I found a hole under the wire where something had dug under and gotten in the pen. We think it was an opposum. It sure was a shock because I definitely was NOT expecting that!!!! So, I had to dig a hole and bury them, since Ron was at work. (Jeffrey, we need a chicken eulogy now!!!) I am quite disappointed because we didn't even get ONE fresh egg yet!!! The good thing about it though is that we don't have to worry about butchering the two roosters, which I was NOT looking forward to doing!!! Ron says we can reinforce the pen, dig down some around it and fill with concrete, and then buy some hens so that we can still have the eggs, but not have to worry about more chicks, or having to butcher the roosters. So, life goes on!!!
I haven't yet decided exactly what I am going to do with the SS Charlie story. I have only received comments from two people, and one I did not post because it had no name on it. Please, if you leave comments, at least put your initials, or mark it with some kind of signature. It may not be all that important, but I like to know who is reading my blog. I may change my mind on this, but for now, no comments without signatures will be posted. If I don't recieve any more comments in favor of the stories, I don't think I will take the time to do them. So, it is up to you all!! If you want the stories, then let me know. If it doesn't matter much to you, let me know. If there are enough that sort of want them, but don't really care, I will seriously think about doing them though for the 2 (so far) that have said they would like them posted. Please, let me know how you feel about it.
Well, that's about it for this time. Gotta get going and get stuff done so that I can go clean some on the church. It's pretty dirty!!!!! Will try to post pics of the new doors sometime. Take care everyone, and remember that God loves you!!!!
Until next time,
Esther

So sorry about your chickens! Hopefully there's more to come! :-)
It does indeed bring great sorrow to my heart to learn that the chickens (may their memory be blessed) were thwarted in their lifelong ambition of gracing some preacher's table.
The wicked greediness of the opossum has overcome the righteous sacrifice of the chicken.
May this wrong be compensated, and may once again, chickens grow fat in your domains.
maybe you should hire a hit man to take out the opossum that was responsible for the mass murder of the innocent chicks.
Esther,
I have enjoyed the story you are printing, and would like others too, you do a real good job, telling the story.
I always look forward to reading your blog. So sorry to hear about your chickens.
I got your blog,from Renee's, I live in Lexington, NC. I know Jonathan's Mother & Family.
Keep encouraged in the Lord,
Linda Hudson
