Hey all,
Boy, has it been busy around here!!!! Ever since we have been here, we have had a wet spot out in the yard. Well, in the last few weeks, it got bigger, and bigger, and bigger...so we decided that it was time to investigate!!!! After church one evening, we went and checked the water meter (at the suggestion of some of our church people), and it was spinning a little bit faster than it was supposed to be!!! Anyway, we FINALLY got to the digging part of the investigation on Sat., and sure enough, there was a leak in the pipe!! It had been fixed before, but not fixed well, and sooooo who knows how long exactly it had been leaking!!! (at least 2 years!!) It took us ALL DAY long, but we got the pipe exposed (it's buried down 2 FT!!! not really necessary here since it doesn't freeze), and repaired. It required getting down and dirty!!!! One good thing was, the leak was under a row of trees so we were in the shade all day, but the bad thing was the roots from the trees made digging next to impossible!!! We actually had to get down in the hole and scoop out the mud with our bare hands because the shovel kept getting caught on the roots. (For those of you that don't know me well, Yes, I did crawl down in there and Yes I did get all muddy!!! Surprisingly, I only broke one fingernail, but that's beside the point!!! I don't mind getting dirty, but when it's all said and done, I'm ready to clean up!!!) So, that was Saturday.
Wed and Thurs were Ron's days off, and we started tackling the kitchen floor. We live in a trailer, need I say more? We had had to fix a couple of spots where the dish washer leaked a while back, so we had to cut the linoleum (check spelling!!) and it was chipping really bad, and then we had another soft spot that needed fixed, and since the dishwasher never worked, we decided to get rid of it, so we had to re-plumb under the sink. When Ron got under there, we found out the faucet was leaking. So, we had to replace that too. We started laying underlayment on Wed. and then hauled off the dish washer on Thurs. When we pulled that out, we found out the floor was caving in under it. So...we had to cut that section of floor out, and replace it. Instead of getting another dishwasher, we decided to just make more cabinet space, so all day Thurs was spent fixing the floor and building the cabinet (oh yeah, a couple of trips to the landfill with ashes from the burn pile took up a couple of hours.)

So, today is Fri, and Ron is working at the station. One of these days we will get things finished so that he can actually have a day off every now and then!!!! We still need to finish the underlayment on the floor, and then we are going to tile it (vinyl tile), I need to make a curtain for the front of the new cabinet space, the wall paper is going to come down, and we're going to paint the walls, plus a few other minor things. When we finally finish it all, it will look sooooo much nicer!!!!! If only I could convince the right people that I "need" new cabinets!!!!!
Well, that's about it for now. SS Charlie will have to wait as I am running out of time. Will see about later today. If not, it will have to be another "double feature" next week.
Until Next time,
Esther
